SL11BIG HUNT 512

The SL Big Hunt is STILL ON!

SL11BIG HUNT 512

The hunt will take place all over the eleven regions of the SL11B Community Celebration until the sims close on July 5. This hunt is so BIG that there will be FOUR hunt paths… North, South, East, and West. And what a great way to see the celebration! Participating exhibitors will be showing the SL11BIG Hunt sign and will have a cool gift for you to pick up. When you visit the celebration, look for the hunt signs. Then look around the participating exhibit for a gift box, with a cool FREE prize inside. Collect them all! See the sights! Bloat your inventory! Keep your eye on the website under the tab “Hunt” for more information. Questions? Contact Hunt Coordinator Rosamoo Mendelsohn

Thank you SL11B Community

We would like to thank everyone who  exhibited,  performed,
visited or volunteered for this year’s SLB Community Celebration.
This year we provided a smaller,  more intimate event.
We hoped that 11 sims for 11 years was not only symbolic
but provided an opportunity for us to slim down the size aspect and amp up the quality.

We  would like to thank the SL Community for supporting this
event every year.  Without you whether it be in the form of
volunteers, entertainment, art or visitors;  our birthday event would not be as collectively successful as it has been this year.

Every year we use this space to connect with you as you get ready
to go back to your regularly scheduled SL.  We remind you to mark your calendars for next April.  This is when we start the process
of preparing a city that rises from nothing,  a schedule of great
entertainment,  an army of volunteers and an array of exhibits
built by you.

If you enjoyed the event and want to be a part next year, please join our new group SLB Community Celebration
(appears in the profiles of Doc Gascoigne or Diana Renoir)
or SLB Community Group
for notification of next year’s festivities.

It was and always has been an honor and my pleasure to once again work with all of you.

Cya next time,
Doc

Doc’s Challenge: Give Us Your Selfies

Diana Renoir, Marianne McCann and Doctor Gascoigne by Doc

I am posting this blog entry to issue a challenge to all of you. While our Flickr group is filling up quickly with great photos, I am a little disappointed to see the photos missing the most important thing—YOU. SL11B is a celebration by the residents, FOR the residents.

So this is my challenge: show us yourself at SL11B. Post your selfies to our Flickr group, to our Facebook page, and share them with Linden Lab for their 10,000L SL11B prize. Our webperson will chose the best ones to post to this blog (as if she isn’t busy enough). Make sure you title them with “SL11B Selfie” and make sure your name is on them so we can credit you.

Let’s celebrate together and let us see YOU doing it!

Get in the SL11B Destination Guide!

Once again, exhibitors have a chance to be put in a special SL11B section of the SL Destination Guide (http://secondlife.com/destinations/sl11b). The Editors of the Guide have reserved a special spot for us and are letting us contact them one of two ways.

EITHER, you can sign up via the form. To do so, get a few things ready:

1. Call an EA over and make sure they

  • put a title on your parcel,
  • set your landing point, and
  • set your parcel to “hangout.”

2. Take a photo of your parcel or provide a piece of artwork to be used in the guide. The photo needs to be 657 X 394 or larger (with that ratio) and needs to be appropriate for a general audience. It can not be an advertisement.

If you want more information about good photos to use, go to the FAQ page for the Destination Guide. They have some great tips:
http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/About-the-Second-Life-Destination-Guide/ta-p/700059

3. Upload your graphic to Flickr or Photobucket.

4. Write up a quick description, 400 characters or less, about your exhibit. (If you have done descriptions for your parcel and for the pod, you should have a good idea already.)

5. THEN go to this page: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/SL11B-is-Coming-Community-Celebration-and-Call-for-Events/ba-p/2721868

  • Category you choose should be SL11B
  • Venue Title is as you named it
  • Use the drop down menu to find your exact parcel. Make sure it’s yours!
  • Provide the url for your graphic.
  • Check that you permit Linden Lab to use the image.
  • Enter your description.
  • Agree to the terms and hit “Send Form.”

OR you can email all the information to the editors. To do this:

1. Call an EA over and make sure they

  • put a title on your parcel,
  • set your landing point, and
  • set your parcel to “hangout.”

2. Take a photo of your parcel or provide a piece of artwork to be used in the guide. The photo needs to be 657 X 394 or larger (with that ratio) and needs to be appropriate for a general audience. It can not be an advertisement.

If you want more information about good photos to use, go to the FAQ page for the Destination Guide. They have some great tips:
http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/About-the-Second-Life-Destination-Guide/ta-p/700059

3. Write up a quick description, 400 characters or less, about your exhibit. (If you have done descriptions for your parcel and for the pod, you should have a good idea already.)

4. Prepare an email to editor@lindenlab.com. The subject needs to be “SL11B.” Put the following info into the email:

  1.  Venue title
  2. SLurl
  3. The description you wrote.
  4. Your image

Understand that emailing this information implies you agree to the terms they have set forth at http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/SL11B-is-Coming-Community-Celebration-and-Call-for-Events/ba-p/2721868

The editor may not acknowledge receipt. Assume if the email went through, they got it. Make sure all the information is there so they can get you in the Guide!

Linden Lab editors review and choose all the submissions and promote them at their discretion as Editors’ Picks, so if you hope to get more people looking at your exhibit, do your best on your submission!
